Kissed by the Sun launched on June 17th at Festival Park and it was a massive success. Let's take a look back at what we created and what this means for BAF in the future
Tens of Thousands in Attendance Viewed the Art
I have been a resident of Fayetteville since 1992 and have witnessed numerous festivals over the years. However, the event that took place in the park last weekend was unlike anything I had ever experienced before. The rows of chairs stretched from the stage deep into the field, causing certain areas to feel elbow-to-elbow packed, much like the state fair.
As I looked around, I noticed countless faces turning to admire the artwork and take multiple selfies with it. Kids ran happily through the banners. It was evident that the people were thrilled to have this event in their town.
This is why we do what we do. We create spaces and showcase art to provide unique experiences that small towns often lack. We worked tirelessly, carrying heavy pavers and enduring smashed thumbs against metal poles, to bring beautiful art to the people. After all the hard work, we raised the banners high with pride, announcing to everyone that black artists were present and exceptional.
Thanks to the success of this exhibit, BAF has been invited to return for an encore showing at the July 4th Faycation event on Maxwell Street. Be sure to come out and appreciate the art!
